Friesian Sampler

This ornate sampler is typical of the Dutch style from the eighteenth century and even the region can be pin-pointed to that of Friesland, one of the northern provinces. What makes it so easy to ascertain the design’s origin is to look at the capital A which has a line or ‘hat’ at its apex.
